  • QuickBooks data has more than one copy with identical names or departmental codes.
  • The .qbt files in your QB folder are damaged, or some customer names are missing or merged in the software data.
  • QuickBooks remote store has a discrepancy in the customer name list or damaged customer data.

Solutions

You can prevent your DBSM from getting affected by this error by applying the techniques given below-

Solution 1- Remove damaged .qbt files from the remote store

This error mainly appears when you try launching QuickBooks in multi-user mode or running the Database Server Manager individually. You’ll see this error code on the screen, and the software or DBSM will refuse to open. This is a runtime issue caused by corruption or damage.QBT files in the remote store. You can get rid of the problem by deleting the .qbt files from headquarters and then from the remote store. Use the following steps-
  1. Open the file explorer and go to C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks Point of sale XX/STex (XX represents version).
  2. Find files with extension .qbt inside the folder and right-click on them individually.
  3. Select Delete to remove them from your PC.
  4. Go to the remote store and type .qbt in the search bar.
  5. You’ll have a list of all the .qbt files on the screen.
  6. Delete them all permanently from your system.
After you have deleted the .qbt files responsible for this error, you must create new remote files using the steps given below-
  1. Go to the Company Operations and Files menu and select Create New company file.
  2. Type a name for your new company file and click Remote Store.
  3. Enter your Store Number and send a mailbag to the remote store from the headquarters.
  4. Try reopening QuickBooks or Database Server Manager (whichever caused this error).
If the software fails to run due to the error, move to the next solution.

Solution 2- Select the correct store type in your QuickBooks POS

You might also encounter this error if you have selected the incorrect store type in your QuickBooks. You can easily change the store type if you haven’t recorded any transactions or entered data in the inventory. Use these steps-
  • Headquarters to Remote
  1. Approach the File menu in QuickBooks and tap Preferences.
  2. Select Company and click the Multi-store preference.
  3. Hit Change to remote store.
  • Remote to Headquarters
  1. Open the File menu and click Company Operations.
  2. Click Create new company and type any desired company name.
  3. Select the Headquarters store option and tap Create.
