SOLUTION 1: Disable the Firewall Protection On Your Windows

  4. In the firewall settings, checkmark the ‘Turn Off Windows Defender Firewall’ checkbox.

SOLUTION 2: Make Changes in the Name of the QuickBooks Search Index File

  1. Launch your QuickBooks Desktop first and make sure to quit the company file. 
  2. Go to the ‘Start’ menu of your Windows and search *.SearchIndex. 
  3. After hitting the ‘Enter’ key, you will be navigated to the company file folder. The path is as follows: C:\ Users\ UserName\ Public\ Documents\ Intuit\ QuickBooks\ Company File\ Companyfilename.QBW folder.
  4. Next, search for the ‘qbw.SearchIndex’ folder and right-click on it to choose the ‘Rename’ option. 
  5. Change its name by adding ‘.OLD’ at the end of the actual file name. 
  6. Now, run your QB company file, and on the existing window, tap on the ‘Search/Magnified Glass’ tab. 
  7. After that, hit the ‘Update Search Information’ option. 
  8. A notification will appear on the screen stating, “Update in progress, please wait”; choose the ‘OK’ button displayed on the dialog box. 
  9. Finally, make an attempt to use the QB search feature.
